Gary Gygax - 1938 to 2008D&D fans old and new: hang your heads. Gary Gygax (who co-created Dungeons & Dragons with Dave Arneson) passed away today at the age of 69.

Roll some tens and twenties for the man who gave so many such glorious nights around the table.

G’night, Gary Gygax. You shall be missed, but your legacy will go on.

EDIT: As a pal pointed out, Gary died on Worldwide GM Day, the day set aside to recognize those souls who run us through the paces, beat us down, and ultimately make or break the game experience.

I actually played with the man at 1986 Gencon. So sad that he has died… the years of pleasure I have from that game would only further anchor me as a total game geek.

I’m rolling a D20 and wearing a black armband for that many days. We’ve lost a great man.
