A whole new Whirled

Here’s a clever entry in the booming world of social networking: Whirled, a new community that adds the very cool twist of making the core component a showcase for user-created games. So while you can do the standard things (chat with friends, customize your page, blah-blah) the real meat comes from the games themselves, which earn you cash with which to trick out your home, customize your avatar, etc.

Though I gotta say: The default avatar being a square of tofu is pretty clever. Anyway…

Built upon an open library, the system (designed by Three Rings) encourages developers and amateurs alike to create and upload their own games into the system.

It’s currently in open beta, so I’ll be curious to see where this goes, but so far I’m quite digging it. I have a suspicion this is gonna be a big time-waster this rainy weekend, so come find me (MonkeyPickle) if you join up.
