First Aid Kit – Tiger Mountain Peasant Song

Speaking of Fleet Foxes, I can’t help but pass along the clip that introduced me to them (albeit in a roundabout sort of way): Swedish duo First Aid Kit recorded a lo-fi acoustic cover of Fleet Foxes’ ‘Tiger Mountain Peasant Song’, and it was this version that sent me down the rabbit hole to audio obsession.

Take a gander/listen for yourself and you’ll see why…

Oh alpha, you strike right at the heart of my obsession with Scandinavian music. I’m slowly being convinced that I’m missing out big time not living in one of those countries because there is something beautiful going on there.

And throw Iceland in that lot for good effect.

    Very nice.

I wanted to hate it so much. This is the 10th time I listend to it, and I’m getting the album. 😀

I gotta say it: First Aid Kit just flat out pwns Fleet Foxes on this tune. The original is a beautiful tune, but these two just make it wholly their own. I’ve listened to both quite a bit, and it’s this version I come back to the most.

I quite agree with Your Good Twin. I’ve fallen in love with more singers/bands from Northern Europe than anywhere else in the last couple of years…..

These girls don’t break that pattern. Simply beautiful voices.

They are offering this song to download for free if you go to there blog on MySpace.

I have now listened to that song and their album over 50 times. I still want to hear it again.
