Barack Obama’s campaign was notable for many things, but from a design point of view it was nearly revolutionary. From the iconic “Hope” image by Shepard Fairey to the more traditional but still eye-popping ‘O’ logo, this was a campaign that understood it had to step outside the traditional bounds of political logos. LogoDesignLove recently interviewed designer Sol Sender (who led the design team that came up with the ‘O’ logo) on how they reached the final product, and they’ve posted a number of alternate logos that almost made the cut.

Personally I really dig the bisected ’08 logo you see above, but I can certainly see why they went with the sunrise ‘O’.
