I have long cheerled for Nina Paley’s amazing animated film “Sita Sings the Blues” (which merges Hindu mythology and 1920’s torch song blues to wonderful effect), and I’m happy to know that it’s finally getting closer to an actual release. It’s been screened at oodles of festivals over the last year, but still no word on when it’ll be made available for mass consumption. I can’t possibly overstate how much I’ve wanted to see this completed film (seeing as we first posted clips waaaay back in August of 2005), so I’m hoping that we’ll be hearing news of either a theatrical release or a dvd release ASAP.

In the meantime, hit the jump and check out the trailer or check the Relate-o-Tron to see all manner of gorgeous clips from the film.

A nod to Coudal Partners’ Fresh Signals for the trailer heads-up.
