Who watches the Minutemen?

Much like teh monkey, I wasn’t thrilled with the announcement of movie adaptation of Watchmen, nor have I been all that keen on what I’ve seen so far from the project (nipples? really?? didn’t we learn our lesson from Batman and Robin???). This short video however is the first time I’ve been remotely interested (instead of angry and fearful) about the project.

As the Minutemen, and what’s covered in these clips, exist in only one small piece of the overall story I’m not about to immediately jump on board, but I have to say this at least slightly mollifies my aggression toward the project.

One of the heros costumes has nipples????!!!!!!!!!!

    O NOES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Could you possibly be any more of dorkoid spazz fanboy?

    Don’t answer ’cause it’s a rhetorical question.

The fact that you’re getting all bent out of shape over a minor costume design shows how lame and pathetic you truly are.

I think I mentioned this last time there was an anti-nipples post on this blog, but I have to say I love the choice. There, I said it. Ozymandias is ridiculous, and he would choose to have nipples on his costume.

I’ve heard a lot of cool things about how, lacking the ability to appropriately reference iconic Golden-Age comic poses and panels as Moore does in the book, Snyder is trying to inject iconic movie homages to serve the same purpose – the example I heard is that apparently the scenes in Vietnam have a lot of Kubrick in them. I think the nipples are a clear reference to B&R and they’re a witty and filmy way to separate Ozymandias from the other characters by making the audience see him as Rorschach sees him – a sell-out, a caricature of himself. That may be reading too much into it, but if that’s the reason, I think it’s frankly brilliant.

This is easily the most I’ve ever written about nipples, I swear.

“This is easily the most I’ve ever written about nipples, I swear.”

You have no idea how often that phrase makes its way into conversation around ‘Buddha.

You certainly make a valid point, Rick, but personally I’m going into this with phenomenally diminished expectations because that’s the only way I’ll be able to keep from murdering someone if it’s a train wreck.

Well said. High expectations have been the bane of my movie-going existence since the internet contained spoilers and hype-fueled fanboy speculations (1983).

But zomg dis time wil be difrnt!!!!1
