true-gritHollywood must truly be out of original ideas. Even the Coen Bros. are going the remake route. Entertainment Weekly is reporting the pair have plans to remake the classic John Wayne western True Grit (the film which finally won the Duke an Oscar). Early plans are to stay closer to the source material (the novel by Charles Portis) than the original film. This means we’ll also have to wait a little longer for the Coen’s proposed adaptation of Michael Chabon’s The Yiddish Policemen’s Union, at least until they’re finished playing in the old west.

Sacriligous! Why remake something that was perfect. I understand some remakes as they didn’t cover the whole story or it can be told better with the newest technologies, however the only improvement I can imagine to this film is pixels per square inch. Complete and utter BS.

I submit that I’ve been complaining about this remake-gasm for quite some time now.. And, it’s not that I don’t like movies based on books and comics, but they’re just another sign that Hollywood is running out of steam.

Although, you CAN find some awesome original films if you know where to look. Check out Birds of America or Fido.
They just never make it to the big screen… maybe the producers with all the cash are afraid the public doesn’t WANT new ideas?
