The sisters Deschanel – Emily or Zooey?

Duke vs. North Carolina. Mozart vs. Salieri. Magneto vs. Charles Xavier. Yankees vs. Redsox. Itchy vs. Scratchy. Martina Navratilova vs. Chris Evert. G.I. Joe vs. Cobra. Lakers vs. Celtics. Autobots vs. Decepticons. Uwe Bowl vs. film. Rivalries of legend all.

Now, you might ask what does all this have to do with today’s post? Teh monkey and I have been having an on-again off-again disagreement about the sisters Deschanel. He chooses Zooey, soon to be seen in 500 Days of Summer, for her all around skills as an actress/singer/ songwriter (not to mention her innate cuteness). I’m more inclined to go with her older (and more visually stunning), sister Emily, who is best known for her title role in the hit TV-series Bones.

Part of alphamonkey’s argument is the younger Deschanel is skilled in more areas being both a professional actress and singer, but I’d have to argue that Emily can carry a tune pretty damn well too.

Of course I’m right and he’s wrong, but feel free to leave your own thoughts on the subject.

Two sisters enter. Only one leaves. Welcome to ‘buddhadome!

Hmm… I think they’re both equally attractive, so I can’t really say which I prefer in that area.

It seems that Zooey is ALWAYS the same person in her roles on film (not that I’ve seen Emily in anything but Bones). But it’s almost gotten to a point to where when I see Zooey on film, I just get annoyed.

I’ve got to go with Emily on this one. Sorry A’monkey.

As pretty as Emily is – and maybe I just feel like I don’t “know” her as well because I’ve only seen her in one show – this comes down hands down in favor of Zooey. When I see ‘(500) Days of Summer,’ I just know my heart is going to explode.

I’m gonnna side with alphamonkey on this one. I think Zooey is prettier, and I melt in front of any girl who can sing. Plus, she plays the cute-indy-weird-but-in-a-good-although-quirky-way character that pretty much sums up my dream girl.

Sorry, Cap’n… Not only is Zooey my gal, she named-checked Transbuddha in Jane Magazine a long, long time ago..

Zooey is my indie princess. I don’t have one of those lists of celebrities that it’s ok to sleep with and it won’t be considered cheating by my S.O., but if I did, there would be one name on it. And it would be Zooey. And I think I would just be happy with just having dinner with her and stare at her bangs.

Is it to late to submit Muriel Hemingway? Dang.

In Truth I think I am in real love with both of them, so I can’t decide.

Didn’t even know Zooey had a sister before seeing this but i’d still go with Zooey. Every single time.

    Om nom.

After Yes Man and Tin Man I have just fallen all over indie love with Zooey. She’s my tops between the two. Although I loooove Bones. Great show. Only down side is how much I hated the show Angel. God I hated that show…
