Dear Hollywood: Remake THIS

For #$!%’s sake, Hollywood! You’re contemplating a Smurfs movie! So why can’t you remake something that deserves it, like for instance Phantom of the Paradise? Check out this trailer! Swap out Glam-Rock for Screamo-Crunk. Swap Paul Williams for The Neptune Bros. and it’s a certified hit! Hell, it’s not like Brian De Palma is all that busy nowadays. Let him re-imagine his own masterpiece.

A tip of the cap to our pal Truly (whose sea legs measure long and firm), for reminding me of this rocktastic gem.

Hell, I probably have seen this, because I remember the mask of the monster and other details… Must have been at some of those nights passed with friends in some other friends house, having taken too much of everything… :)

Why not remake the Rocky Horror Picture Show? But, wait. That movie was already great, it doesn’t need a remake. :)

    What!! Only PG????

  3. I know. PG rated Brian De Palma is about as mind-bending as NC-17 from Pixar.

Coincidentally enough I was watching Yo Gabba Gabba with my girls yesterday, and it just so happened to be the Weather episode. For the uninitiated that means it was an episode that featured Paul Williams doing a rendition of “The Rainbow Connection“. AWESOME!

Man, Paul Williams sounds more like Willie Nelson every day.

OMG! Thank you for posting this… I (barely) remember seeing this as a kid..

Has stuck w/ me for the past 30 years for some odd reason, but had no idea what the name or premise was. I just remember the whole ‘Phantom of the Opera” vibe, and the music.

I thought it would make an awesome remake as well!
