All of us here at the ‘buddha offices were saddened yesterday to learn of the passing of John Hughes from a heart attack at the age of 59. Although remembered mostly for making the teen comedy his own (Ferris Bueller, Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, Weird Science, Pretty in Pink), Hughes worked for three decades in the industry as a writer, director, and producer on more than 30 films. While not everything he touched turned to gold (remember She’s Having a Baby or the Beethoven franchise?), Hughes provided some of the defining cinematic moments of my adolescence and he will be missed. G’night John Hughes, Shermer, Illinois just won’t be the same without you.
