Super-villain of the week: Electro

in Comics!

A freak electric accident and a lifetime of insecurities led to the creation of Electro. The super-villain with the near-infinite control over electricity, and one of the founding members of the Sinister Six, has been battling Spider-Man on-and-off for more than 40 years. As a kid Electro was one of my favorite Spidey villains, even making an appearance on an episode of Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends as well as the old 60’s Spider-Man cartoon.

For a villain dressed in a ridiculous green and yellow costume, whose main weaknesses are water and his inability to out-think a teenage wise-ass dressed in red and blue pajamas, somehow he still managed to come off cooler than he had any right to. Thanks go to the magic of Stan Lee and Steve Ditko for creating him (along with many of the other early core Spidey villains who are still around today).
