A comment by alphamonkey yesterday led to this post. Though, to be fair, I need very little incentive to celebrate my favorite song from one of the best movies of my childhood. This clip is taken from “The Muppets Go Hollywood” a 1979 Hollywood affair celebrating the Muppets making their way to the big screen for the first time. It begins with Dick Van Dyke interviewing Muppet creator Jim Henson which leads to Paul Williams and Kenny Asher discussing the genesis of “Rainbow Connection” before performances of the song by both Williams and Kermit the Frog. The sound is a little off, but as an intriguing piece of Muppet lore I’m willing to forgive that small issue.
