Here’s what happened: Back in 2002 Andy Breckman came up with a premise for a show about a a brilliant former police detective with a wide range of psychological problems and traumatized by the death of his wife.

Tonight USA airs the Monk series finale at 9:00/8:00 Central. After eight seasons, two assistants (Traylor Howard and Bitty Schram who returned for an episode this season), and 125 episodes the “affected detective” says goodbye.

USA is running a marathon all day to get you caught up for the finale which will answer remaining questions about Trudy’s murder and the final fate of Adrian Monk (Tony Shaloub, who won 3 Emmys for the role).

G’night Mr. Monk, and thanks for the memories!
