When in Rome New York

The first thing you need to know about When in Rome is it doesn’t take place in Rome (give or take ten minutes).

I wanted to like this film. But nothing, not even the talents of Veronica Mars and Tad Hamilton, could save the film from a flurry of romantic comedy cliches and contrivance we are forced to witness.

mel gibson edge of darkness 2010This weekend Mel Gibson stars in “Edge of Darkness,” a revenge thriller that struggles to also maintain its theme of a doting father dealing with grief.

Eric saw the movie this weekend with Scene-Stealers contributor Trevan McGee. Since we didn’t have our cameras handy, however, we thought it would be cool to approximate a video review in the form of a conversation anyway.

What we came up with was a review by way Instant Messenger. So enjoy all the insight you would normally get without having to look at our ugly mugs…or Mel’s, for that matter.

Though I’m not a fan of the film (sorry ‘monkey) I’ll still share this with you. Here’s The Whiskey Rebellion‘s homage to The Goonies. This is “The Ballad of Chester Copperpot.”

Nice little classic TOS mashup.

green lantern 50

Green Lantern #50 – Hit-and-Miss. The return of Parallax. Well, I never said Hal Jordan was the smartest guy in the room. Brave, yes, but he has made more than his share of questionable decisions over the years. His latest – to beome Parallax again to take down the Blackest Night Spectre. Yeah, this should end well. I understand the Corps themselves is in for quite a few changes after Blackest Night ends. I’m not sure how I feel about this turn for the character (though I’m guessing it will be short-lived) so I’ll hold off judgment at least until the end of this story arc. [DC $3.99]

I don’t remember this 45-minute attempt at adapting Isaac Asimov’s Robot Series for television, but I kinda want to see it. From these short clips of Robots you can tell the production was hampered by a meager budget (not to mention some questionable acting), but it still looks better than Alex Proyas’ I, Robot with Will Smith.
