The folks at CineMassacre have put together a list of The Top 10 Worst Movie Clichés. They make some good points.

    They forgot one! The utterly foolish “Good guy lets bad guy live” cliche. In essence the bad guy (who has prolly directly caused the deaths and wounding of hundreds of people has been defeated. The good guy has a chance to finish off this supervillian once and for all so that no one will ever be hurt by them again. And he just can’t do it. It would be wrong. Totally wrong.

    What’s more its totally different from the good guy chewing his way through the lives of dozens of henchmen. Henchmen aren’t people so its ok to kill them.

    I’m actually going to watch carefully in spy and action movies now and keep a running tally. I want to see if there are any movies out there where the good guy kills more people than the bad guy.
