the ninth configuration 1980Our newest column continues this week with a pretty obscure title and a brand new contributor! Shelby Thomas, who like most of our contributors was a presence in the comments section before deciding to go all-out and write up full articles, tackles a bizarre movie indeed.

“The Ninth Configuration” was written and directed by the author of “The Exorcist” and released in 1980. A quick perusal of the film’s plot keywords on IMDb is enough to make me want to rent it: Insane Asylum, Castle, Christ Figure, Symbolism, Torture, Existentialism, Surrealism, Cult Favorite, Crucifixion, Astronaut, Dark Comedy, Jet Pack, and finally, Sheep.

Read Shelby’s article to find out what the movie’s really about and why it’s overlooked!
