The Laser Close-In Weapon System created by Raytheon was recently unveiled at a London airshow. The 50 kilowatt beam of awesome so far has been used to successfully take down small unmanned drones.

I am alone or does anyone else want one just so they fire it once and yell out COOOOOBRAAAAAAAA!? Maybe it’s just me.

The video you posted is not the laser weapon though, it’s the same type of gun but firing self-destructing rounds. Still looks cool, though, especially at night.

The video of the laser weapon is at the bottom of the link below, however it’s not nearly as impressive as the one you posted. (Which now that I think about it, may be why you posted the gun version!)

Nice catch. The Scientific American vid was the one I wanted to use but couldn’t embed it. Should have just linked it. Thanks!
