Cary Grant is a witty, unflappable powerhouse in Alfred Hitchcock’s “North by Northwest.” He becomes our unwitting American James Bond, our accidental counter agent, and he does so through the use of clever banter and more than a little luck.

If you are more familiar with Hitchcock’s more traditional suspense thrillers then “North by Northwest” may catch you off guard. But then again, this adventure film/spy movie/mistaken identity comedy isn’t considered one of his best movies for no reason. Read Trey Hock‘s 1 Year, 100 Movies #55 North by Northwest (1959).
