The first trailer for Batman: Year One has hit the interwebs. I’m a big fan of DC’s animation but this quick glimpse feels like it’s lacking the awesome of Frank Miller’s original tale. What do you think?
Batman: Year One trailer
I agree. I don’t know if it’s the preview just isn’t giving me an awesome feeling or the show will lack it.
Catwoman’s in Year One? I . . . don’t remember that.
Selina Kyle is indeed in Year One. That’s where Miller revamped her to be a prostitute (Wow, that’s a shocking female character trait from Mr. Miller) who was inspired by Bats to become Catwoman.
And I don’t know where you’re getting the “lacking the awesome”, as nearly every scene in the trailer is a direct lift from the comics themselves. I’m not too keen on the visual style they’re going for (still too washed-out anime lighting for my tastes), but it looks like they’re hitting the right beats.
It might just be how the trailer is cut together with a very bland Batman narration (discussing the murder of his parents no less), but I expected a little more from the first look. With only this trailer to go on they’ve managed my expectations from Under the Red Hood to Superman/Batman Apocalypse.
