Short Film

We’re gonna end the week with the awesome that is Space Stallions, an animated short film by: Thorvaldur S. Gunnarsson, Jonatan Brüsch, Ágúst Kristinsson, Arna Snæbjørnsdottir, Esben J. Jespersen, Touraj Khosravi, and Polina Bokhan featuring the adventures of Ion-Ray, Optica, X-Ray, and Sun-Ray the Stallion who save the universe with their magical keytar-sword, giant hammer, and rainbow-trailing space motorcycles (like true heroes do).

Castlevania in LEGO form. Okay, so it’s a little long at 146 minutes (and in a foreign language), but this is pretty impressive and worth it for the opening shot (00:00:20) alone.

We’re posting this for two reasons. First, because it’s a pretty good (if depressing) Portal short film. And second, it appears the film’s director Dan Trachtenberg has been tapped to handle the big screen adaptation of Y: The Last Man.

Using existing Doctor Who footage, Tardeselliot Productions is putting together a version of the much discussed but never shown Time War which took place before Doctor Who‘s return to television in 2005. “Time War” will star Paul McGann and Andrew Merkelback as the Eighth Doctor, Christopher Eccleston and Peter Walsh as the Ninth Doctor, Timothy Dalton as Rassilon, Lalla Ward as Romana, Colin Baker as Commander Maxil, Louise Jameson as Leela, and John Leeson as the voice of (my favorite companion) K-9.

Shot six years ago, the new short film from writer and director Liz Goldwyn stars a half-dressed Jena Malone (Sucker Punch, The Ruins, Pride & Prejudice) as “a young woman who recalls an encounter with a lushly powdered call girl.” The (certainly NSFW) short film is part of a series by Goldwyn to examine and demystify the sex industry.
