X-Men: First Class – The good news…and the bad

In a recent interview with Harry Knowles X-Men: First Class director Bryan Singer let a few facts slip about the next X-movie.

First the good news:

1. Expect similar costumes to the original team’s look.

2. Unexpectedly, the film will be an effective reboot returning the characters to their 60′s roots.

3. The film will focus on the relationship between Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) and Erik Lehnsherr (Michael Fassbender) and the creation of the X-Men.

4. Kevin Bacon is indeed playing the Hellfire Club’s Sebastian Shaw with January Jones signed on as Emma Frost.

Indiana Jones 5 is a go

Sad but true. Steven Spielberg and Geroge Lucas are teaming up on the fifth installment of the Indiana Jones franchise. The Playlist is reporting that the script is currently being written and that Shia LaBeouf thinks “it sounds really cool.” Really? Cooler than mummy aliens made of crystal living deep in the jungle? (We can only hope!)

The script may be being penned but as yet the project still doesn’t have a title. Maybe we can do something about that. Take a gander at the poster for my humble recommendation.

What do you think? Too on-the-nose?

Monday Morning WTF

Three questions:

1. Do you have your own blog?

2. At any time did you install ads on it?

3. Do you live in Philadelphia?

If you answered yes to all three, guess what – you’re fucked!

It seems the City of Brotherly Love is forcing any blogger who has enabled ads on a personal (as in not for business) blog to fork over $300 for a “business privilege license” as well as pay potential future taxes, regarldess whether or not it has ever, or could ever, turn a profit.

Starbucks’ lingo makes people go insane

This past weekend a Starbucks customer finally had enough with the company’s lingo and had to be escorted out by the police when she refused to use the exact phrase “without butter or cheese” when ordering a multigrain bagel. Did the woman overreact by going ballistic on a Stabucks employee? Most definitely, but you could say the same for the barista who could have instantly diffused the situation by simply selling her a bagel. Me, I’m all for anyone telling Starbucks (and any other brand) to stick it when they attempt to create their own language in an attempt to seem cool, hip, or cutting-edge. So, to celebrate that thought, here’s this clip of Role Models on the subject of a venti large cup of coffee.

No, large means large

Return of the Jedi missing scene will make its way to Blu-ray

In case you hadn’t heard, the original Star Wars trilogy is finally on it’s way to Blu-ray sometime in the first half of next year. Sadly, only the “Special Edition” versions of Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi will be included. George Lucas, still unwilling to stop tampering with our collected childhood, will also be returning this (rather unnecessary) lightsaber scene back into Jedi. But, hey, Star Wars on Blu-ray…yah?!

lintly, make sure to leave your iPhone before you rob that liquor store

Turns out the iPhone is storing a hellova lot more information than you thought including snapping a screenshot every time you close out of the built-in mapping application, and tagging GPS, time, and phone info on pics taken online, allowing someone to trace a photo back to the spot where a pic was taken and the phone which took it. The good news: the police are using the data to help solve a variety of crimes. The bad news: you’re personal phone is a lot less private than you thought.

Wait, I don’t know who to root for?!

CNN is reporting that Tila Tequila was pelted with rocks and bottles while performing at a music festival in Illinois this weekend. After attempting to calm the crowd by baring her breasts the mob really got violent and went so far as to chase her off the stage and surrounded her trailer, smashing out all the windows.

What was the concert you ask?

The 11th Annual Gathering of the Juggalos.

Now, I’m certainly not condoning this, or any, level of violence, but this is Tila Tequila and Juggalos we’re talking about. So, help me out, who am I supposed to root for again?

News & Notes: Avatar, Entourage, Torchwood, and Quantum Leap the movie?

Plans are in the works for a Quantum Leap feature film. Though they may be involved in some capacity, the original Sam (Scott Bakula) and Al (Dean Stockwell) won’t make the leap to the big screen.

Russell T. Davies made an appearance on the Television Critics Association fall press tour and discussed six ways the new Torchwood will change everything.

HBO has announced Entourage will end it’s run next summer.

And James Cameron is planning on a pair of Avatar sequels to be shot back-to-back. Well, it worked for Pirates of the Caribbean. Oh, wait, it didn’t.
