Ricky Gervais returned to host the Golden Globes again Sunday night. The big winners of the night were The Descendants and The Artist taking home Best Picture Awards from Drama and Comedy respectively. Both films’ leading men took home awards for Best Actor as well. I was happy to see Michelle Williams take home Best Actress for Comedy for My Weekend with Marilyn. On the television side Homeland was a big winner taking home the award for Best Drama and a Best Actress Award for Claire Danes. And Modern Family was Awarded the Golden Globe for Best Comedy. You can see the complete list of winners here.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator and founder of Heavy Metal magazine Kevin Eastman is selling off the contents of his entire studio to help raise money for the Hero Initiative (a not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping comic book creators, writers and artists in need). Very, very cool. Click here if you want to bid, but you better have some money to burn as the bidding is already up to $6,400.

Take a few minutes to check out this video which takes a frank look at PROTECT-IP Act which would effectively criminalize all sorts of standard web content including music playing in the background of videos, footage of people dancing, kids playing video games, and people performing cover songs. If the bill passes, even linking to pages where these exists would technically be a crime. How much (besides the obvious loss of freedom, of course) will we be paying for this governmental service? This can be yours, right now, for the low, low cost of $47 million tax dollars a year (for enforcement). If you like to find content on the Internet (crazy us, right?) and are moved by the video head here to sign a petition to fight the bill.

Although he’s not getting his own book, Captain Marvel (the real one – accept no substitutes!) will be making his first appearance in the back-up story of Justice League #5 in January. Now word yet on if any other members of the Marvel Family may make future appearances. C’mon, can’t we give Tawky Tawny and Hoppy the Marvel Bunny a little love, too?

TMZ has acquired footage of a drunken beatdown of Transformers and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull star Shia LaBeouf at the hands of one individual whose hatred of those films boiled over after news of yet another Transformers travesty could be on the way.*

Shia LaBeouf Fight — Pummeled to the Ground on Vancouver Sidewalk

*Okay, it’s possible the fight might have been about something else, but I’m just going to assume it’s Michael Bay’s Transformers related (almost everything awful is).
