“Old Demons” comes to a close as despite Archaeus‘ temporary hold over Angel pitting Buffy‘s ex against her current undead boyfriend, and having a host of lesser demons to fight off the rest of the Scoobies, the gang finds a way to come through in the end. Despite the fact that the arc comes to a close here with Archaeus’ defeat neither the demon nor the “Restless Door” artifact are taken out of play leaving the opportunity for one or both to make an appearance later in the season.

The latest issue of Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Nine isn’t what I expected. For one thing neither Buffy Summers nor any of the regular or new supporting players make an appearance.

Frankly, I’d rather have the Smile Time version of the character, but Sideshow Collectibles new 17.5in. Angel statue is sure to make some fans of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer spin-off very happy. You can pre-order it now for the low, low price of $270.

The Slayer’s Scythe was made using Joss Whedon’s personal souvenir prop scythe as reference. 37in. long and 11lbs., the blade is cast zinc with a blood-red coating, with an ostrich skin style handle wrap and the wooden stake. The Slayer’s Scythe comes with a display plaque. It’s currently available online on Amazon and Ebay prices ranging from $300 to $550.

Buffy Season Eight has been an adventure. Almost twice as long as its original intended length, the story has meandered a bit on its way to giving us some great (and less than great) moments over the course of 40 issues.

Seeing as we were just talking about Joss Whedon in the office today this seemed like an appropriate topic (and one I have no doubt alphamonkey will love to no end).

13 short years ago Buffy Summers (after a failed movie career) move to Sunnydale and thus began a seven year journey (plus a spinoff) including vampires (both with and without souls), a mayor with snake-envy, all manner of demons, death, robot sex slaves, witches, a trio of arch-nemesises, and even a god. Ah, the memories.

Happy Birthday Buffy!
