Mickey is getting new life in 3in. action figure form celebrating Tron, Pirates of the Caribbean, Frankenstein, and The Nightmare Before Christmas. As for me, I’m still holding out for a Condorman Mickey action figure. You can pre-order each figure for the low, low price of $12 each.

Paperman

Disney’s Oscar-nominated short “Paperman” (originally released with Wreck-It Ralph) has finally hit the Internet. It skews to a slightly older audience than most of Pixar’s shorts (making sense as to play to the older, nostalgic, video game audience for Ralph), but it’s no less enjoyable. If you haven’t seen it, or even if you have, you should take a look.

Well, here’s something you don’t see everyday. From a couple of months back, here is singer-songwritter Alicia Keys stopping by Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to perform the theme song of Disney’s 80′s cartoon Adventures of the Gummi Bears.

The past hour the Internet has been all abuzz with news that George Lucas has sold Lucasfilm, Industrial Light & Magic, Skywalker Sound, and the rights to the expanded Star Wars universe to Disney for $4.05 billion (half in cash and half in 40 million shares of Disney). Kathleen Kennedy, current co-chairman of Lucasfilm, will take over as President of the company and serve as executive producer for Star Wars: Episode VII which is tentatively scheduled for a 2015 release date. I’ve decided to be cautiously optimistic, but someone may want to give teh ‘monkey a hug as he’s currently crawled up in a ball under his desk muttering obscenities and planning a way to kill everyone involved.

The 1980′s were lean years for Disney. Sure, the studio gave us The Fox and the Hound to begin the decade and The Little Mermaid to end it (and start a resurgence for Disney animated features), but the near decade in-between produced some very un-Disney-like choices for theatrical features including 1985′s The Black Cauldron and 1986′s The Great Mouse Detective.

Bryan Boyce re-imagines Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver as a Walt Disney classic in this humorous mashup. The new version follows a Mickey Mouse-obsessed Travis Bickle as he looks for love in a rapidly transforming New York City. Thanks to our pal Eric for sending this one our way!
