You may not know the name Gilbert Taylor but you’ve more than likely sat through one of the cinematographer’s films. In a career that spanned nearly 50 years the director of photography was responsible for shooting one or two lesser known films such as Star Wars and Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb. His career also includes The Beatles‘ A Hard Day’s Night, Roman Polanski‘s Repulsion, and 1980’s Flash Gordon. Taylor passed away at his home on Isle of Wight on August 23 at the age of 99.
