Dynamite Entertainment brings a new version of Flash Gordon back to comics. Although when I say new, this version of Flash seems to have quite a bit in common with the 1980 film by starring Sam J. Jones, Max von Sydow, Melody Anderson,Timothy Dalton, Ornella Muti, and Brian Blessed.

Flash Gordon: The Invasion of the Red Sword ends here. I’ve found the latest mini-series from Ardden Entertainment more frustrating than the first but it’s had just enough moments to make me pick up the final issue which finds Flash Gordon uniting the various factions of Mongo to drive the Earth soldiers known as the Red Sword off of Mongo and back to Earth.

The beta version of the Science Fiction Encylopedia is now online. Other than some formatting and layout issues (long entries are not easy to read) it’s pretty functional, at least for a beta. However, we do have one complaint. How can the 1980 cinematic masterpiece Flash Gordon earn little more than a footnote? For shame!

The long overdue sequel to Ardden Entertainment’s Flash Gordon: The Mercy Wars finally hit shelves (only four months late). The first issue of this second series finds Ming the Merciless presumed dead, an unsteady peace between the rival princes of Mongo (Barin, Vultan, Thun), and Flash, Dale, and Zarchov still without a way home.
