In 2001 Warner Bros. released the first film adapted from the Harry Potter books. Directed by Chris Columbus, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone was a critical and box office success. Ten years, three directors, and seven films later, the hugely popular film franchise comes to a close with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.

The end is nigh! Check out the trailer for the final film in the Harry Potter franchise featuring Harry’s (Daniel Radcliffe) final confrontation with Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) and his unresolved homosexual feelings towards Ronald Weasley (Rupert Grint). Okay, I might be making the second part up. Emma WatsonHelena Bonham CarterGary OldmanTom Felton, Bonnie Wright, and Alan Rickman all return as well. A Little Hallow

This Harry Potter fan learned long ago not to get excited for the film adaptations of his most beloved of all book series. They’ve never been awful, but with one exception, they’ve never approached being as good as the source material. Still, last year’s Half-Blood Prince proved surprisingly adept at conveying the atmosphere I catch every time I crack open one of the books. Would the upward spiral continue with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1?
