Ms. Marvel #1 introduces the character who will taking over the name for Marvel’s new Marvel NOW! campaign (not to be confused with Marvel’s old Marvel NOW! campaign also currently still happening). The first issue from writer G. Willow Wilson and artist Adrian Alphona does a good job at introducing us to Muslim teenager Kamala Khan and her close circle of dysfunctional friends and family.

Although I’ve grown disinterested in Marvel’s Avengers titles as of late, with the fallout of AvX and the newly relaunched title by writer Jonathan Hickman (neither of which I enjoyed), I have been a fan of Marvel’s animated The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes cartoon and the cover of this issue promised the kind of Avengers story I was interested in reading. I wasn’t disappointed.

London artist Des Taylor has put together some terrific magazine covers for the fictional magazine Live which would cover “stories surrounding the people in and around the heroes of yesteryear.” Very, very cool.

The internets are all aflutter about the rumor of Marvel and Disney creating a series of short films to introduce some of the lesser known Marvel heroes such as Dr. Strange, Luke Cage, and the Black Panther.

Who would you like to see, besides the Scarlet Spider (of course).
