scorpion-grow-a-deer-a-female-deer

After heading to Africa to help a nonprofit deal with a rise of poachers, Scorpion finds itself racing to protect an injured deer and a her newborn faun. The episode has plenty of action and humor, some of which works well and some… not so much. Toby (Eddie Kaye Thomas) in full dad joke mode is actually charming, but running gag of Walter‘s (Elyes Gabel)’s Cabe impression goes sour quickly as the team leader takes on the personality of the missing Cabe (Robert Patrick) who can’t leave the country due to his impending legal troubles.

scorpion-extinction

Scorpion returns for a Fourth Season with the first-half of a two-part episode that sends the Scorpion to Norway to plug a methane gas leak which their old frenemy Mark Collins (Joshua Leonard) believes could be the first domino to start an extinction event for all life on Earth. Leave it to Scorpion to bring out the most outrageous stakes ever for the start of a new season. Needing Collins help, the team heads overseas where the the “changed” man slowly begins to sew seeds of discord among the group including between Walter (Elyes Gabel) and Paige (Katharine McPhee). While the episode plays the character down-the-line without concluding one way or the other on how much he has changed, I’m fully expecting a full-on villain turn for Collins in next week’s conclusion (which would be a mistake as the character could be far more interesting in his current role as a potential recurring guest).

scorpion-monkey-see-monkey-poo

Leaving Sylvester (Ari Stidham) back in the garage, the rest of the team heads to Africa in search of a monkey which scientists believe might be the key to stopping a dangerous viral outbreak from spreading any further. For Walter (Elyes Gabel) and his friends that means tracking down the monkey, running tests to find out what is making it immune to the disease, and then putting their skills together to solve the problem and save the day. Complicating matters for Toby (Eddie Kaye Thomas) and Happy (Jadyn Wong) are the marriage advice from Dr. Rizzuto (Penn Jillette) forcing Toby to recognize his fiance’s faults as well as her gifts. Thankfully, this doesn’t interfere with either the mission or the pair’s impending wedding.

scorpion-dirty-seeds-done-dirt-cheap

A mission to Greenland to fix world’s seed trust turns unexpectedly dangerous when Happy (Jadyn Wong), Sylvester (Ari Stidham), and Cabe (Robert Patrick) are all exposed to spores which begin to make them individually hallucinate their deepest fears (which turn out to be more cute than macabre). For Cabe this means getting stuck in a sitcom where the age difference between he and his latest lady friend becomes the stuff of canned laughter. For Sly it means being scared by a room full of hallucinatory chickens. And Happy finds herself back in the orphanage where no one wants to adopt her.

scorpion-sharknerdo

Taking on a job on the high seas in search of sunken treasure leads to Walter (Elyes Gabel) and Paige (Katharine McPhee) becoming stranded on wreckage after their boat explodes leaving them at the mercy of the ocean. Oh, and then the sharks show up. With the help of Sylvester (Ari Stidham) and Happy (Jadyn Wong) working from home, Cabe (Robert Patrick) and Toby (Eddie Kaye Thomas) are able to find the stranded sailors, but with boat issues of their own and a frenzy of sharks attacking their stranded friends, the rescue just became far more complicated.

scorpion-wreck-the-halls

Scorpion celebrates Christmas with some wilderness misadventures when an attempt to get the team together outside the city for an electronics-free holiday is hijacked by a group of gunrunners and their intended victim who they had planned to bury in the woods not far from Team Scorpion’s retreat. Using whatever is at hand, the group works to subdue the criminals Home Alone-style and rescue Ralph (Riley B. Smith) who is taken hostage.

scorpion-bat-poop-crazy

Although the stakes turn out to be no less world shattering than usual (fate of the whole world, yada, yada, yada), the latest episode of Scorpion is a bit of change of pace. Rather than taking on gun-totting killers this week the team descends into a cave to do some spelunking in hopes of saving the local bat population from a disease which could wipe it out. As usual, things go wrong and the team has to think quick on its feet to save the local scientists helping them and make it out of the cave alive. Due to Happy‘s (Jadyn Wong) pregnancy she stays home with Ralph (Riley B. Smith) while Sylvester (Ari Stidham) is dragged into the darkness against his many objections allowing both characters to be uncomfortable in their roles (although Ralph’s sudden shift from the normal mild-mannered young genius to sugar-high crazy person certainly doesn’t make Happy’s job any easier).

scorpion-it-isnt-the-fall-that-kills-you

When Walter (Elyes Gabel) gets trapped on a malfunctioning rocket and shot into low orbit it falls on the other Scorpion members to bring him home. Even after reestablishing contact with their boss, the assignment is further complicated by Walter’s limited oxygen supply and the fact that he has already begun to hallucinate. With Paige (Katharine McPhee) saying whatever is necessary to keep him focused, the other geniuses are forced to work without the help of their best resource.

scorpion-civil-war

Scorpion begins its Third Season with a two-part episode where the team takes on a group of Eastern European hackers who have found a way to remotely hijack two F130 jets, four Naval Destroyers, and a nuclear submarine. Tensions are already high on the team because of Walter (Elyes Gabel) crashing Paige‘s (Katharine McPhee) romantic weekend and Toby (Eddie Kaye Thomas) still flipping out after learning that Happy (Jadyn Wong) is already married.

scorpion-season-two-dvdScorpion‘s Second Season continues the adventures of the team of super-geniuses saving the world from whatever calamity is threatening it this week. While continuing to deny his feelings for Paige (Katharine McPhee), Walter (Elyes Gabel) begins dating a woman (Brooke Nevin) he saves from having a bomb strapped to her chest while Paige finds temporary companionship with a Homeland Security agent (Scott Porter) and, after quite a few flirtations and false starts, two other members of the team will finally give into their feelings for each other.

Highlights include the team saving southern California from the dangerous after-effects of an earthquake, stealing a satellite weapon from an African dictator, getting stuck in a malfunctioning smart building they designed, take a trip to Cuba, and stop a Russian satellite from crashing into California. Happy (Jadyn Wong) and Toby (Eddie Kaye Thomas) get stuck in a snowstorm, Walter rescues Paige and Ralph (Riley B. Smith) from a runaway subway car, Scorpion takes a trip on a nuclear submarine, and the team plays super-hero.
