Secret Avengers

The final issue of Secret Avengers by writer Warren Ellis isn’t bad, but then again it isn’t all that great either. I won’t go so far as to say he phoned it in, but this is a rather lackluster end to his run on the comic.

The latest issue of Secret Avengers opens with the deaths of Steve Rogers, Agent 13, and War Machine. To save her friends the Black Widow activates an “Escape Hatch” (a small time machine) which takes her five years into the past to begin planning a way to avert the catastrophe which took the lives of three of her teammates.

Boy howdy, folks! It’s the last episode of 2011, and once again our pal Bobby Beirley joins ‘monkey & the Cap’n (oh god, we sound like a porny morning drive-time show) to run through our favorite comics of the week, argue about Dark Knight Rises, and a little thing we like to call: The best damn comics of the year. And oh, yeah…we say some pretty awful stuff (again).

As you might have guessed, the Freak-Out is taking a break this week to utilize our trademark snark and vinegar in a more traditional manner: Sniping at family as we dig in on our Thanksgiving dinner. But while this was a somewhat light week for comics, I thought I’d go ahead and share my picks o’ the week.
