Here’s my look back at the ten best single comic issues from the past year. Including ongoing series, one-shots, and mini-series, the only limitations I put on this list was that the comic had to have been released in 2013 (no reprints) and I limited myself to only a single issue from any one title. Because I was focusing on standout issues rather than consistently strong comics every month several of my favorite series missed the cut, but, if time permits, I may work up my regular list of best comic series of the past year as well.

Personally, I’ve always preferred Storm Shadow‘s all-white costume, but I have to say this new Storm Shadow Sixth Scale Figure featuring the ninja’s camo look ain’t too shabby. The figure will come complete with the camouflage suit, a compound bow and arrow set, assault vest, a cobra head katana, shuriken, and a pair of ninja tonfas, all of which can be yours for the low, low price of $180.

From The Loyal Subjects come these 3in. Mini-G.I. JOE figures. The figures are sold separately in blind boxes, meaning you won’t know which one of the 11 figures (which include Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, Destro, Cobra Commander, Zartan, Gung-Ho, Duke, and Snow Job) you’ll get, for $13 a piece.* You can also plop down a hefty $208 for an entire case of 16 figures (but with the possibility of multiple duplicates still isn’t guaranteed to get you a full set).

I’m going to miss this series. As IDW prepares to reboot their entire G.I. JOE franchise with new titles and new collaborative teams, writer Chuck Dixon and artist Robert Atkins provide one final Snake Eyes comic for us to enjoy. In honor of Larry Hama‘s own silent issue of G.I. JOE #21, Dixon and Atkins provide a final Storm Shadow tale that needs no words to tell.
