After months of giving us issues with rotating members of the Bat Family the latest issue of Batman and Robin begins a new arc featuring an updated New 52 origin of Two-Face. Although the basics stay the same, a criminal exposes Harvey Dent to acid, the specifics are unnecessarily updated (something the New 52 excels at) as the person responsible for Two-Face’s creation is now Erin McKillen.

Another Forever Evil .1 tie-in issue offers us a look at Two-Face accepting the role of Gotham’s protector (and dispenser of his own brutal form of justice) all at the flip of a coin. True to the character, Batman and Robin #23.1 certainly doesn’t skimp on the bloodshed as the villain becomes judge, jury, and executioner for all who get in his way.

For an issue that is jam-packed with important events and characters I’m not quite sure how this issue of Batman is such a trainwreck. Two-Face returns to Gotham, but he’s not the only Dent who’s got a role to play.
